Firstly today 15th October is my birthday and I am 26! Oh and I will happily accept gifts… preferably an Audi 2024 RS Q8 e-tron, 2024 BMW X6 M Competition or 2024 Lamborghini Urus, in either black or dark grey, nothing too crazy.
While you prepare my gifts, here are 26 things I have learned about mental wellness and skincare. Some from personal experience and some from others around me.
Your mental health is the most important thing in the world without good mental health, nothing else matters.
Skincare of meant to be fun not stressful.
The longest relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself, so why not treat yourself well ?
You only need 4-5 skincare products in your skincare routine.
No one is worth risking your mental health for, you don’t deserve or need the trauma. Leave them.
Body care is extremely crucial. Invest in a decent foot moisturiser, no one should be THAT ashy.
Seeing a therapist doesn’t make you a failure nor does it mean you are weak. If you broke your foot you would go see a doctor right? So then why not for your mental state?
South Korean and Japanese skincare is top tier.
Maybe you don’t have anxiety or have depression. Maybe it’s the people around you or environment you’re in. If can, get out.
No moisturiser should not be more than £30…but then again.. I bought a body cream for £103 because I was sad. HEY! DON’T JUDGE ME! It’s my favourite brand, Christian Dior and I happened to walk past the store. I had to…so I suppose if it’s a little treat it’s okay. Treat yourself ’cause not only did I feel good, I smelled delicious. (Incase you want it too, it’s the Ambre Nuit)
More conversations need to be had among men about their mental wellness because the suicide rate is too high. I mean, In the UK in 2021; For men, 15.8 per 100,000 suicides were committed compared to women 5.5 per 100,000. That’s 74% to 26%. Talk it out.
As cliché as it may sound, you will not get that clear healthy skin over night you have to do it daily. Skincare requires a lot of patience and consistency
You can’t force someone to take care of their mental health. They have to want to be helped. Like the well known proverb; ”You can lead a horse to water but you can’t force him to drink”.
Sunscreen is your best friend. Yes brown and black people need too. Skin cancer doesn’t discriminate.
It’s important to have safe place. A place you can truly be yourself through vulnerability without judgement and you can, also find a safe place in a person. Someone you can trust as all this contributes to your mental wellness.
When it comes to skincare, what works for others may not always work for you. You need understand your skin type first, understand your needs too. Is it acne ? oily skin? is your skin too dry? Start there.
You don’t need another drink or another sexual partner to forget your problems. You need a therapist.
Focusing on hydration is the best way to begin your skincare journey.
Without mental health you have nothing and nothing else matters. Understand your your mental wellness and no one will ever tell you about you.
Double Cleansing is crucial. Start with a balm cleanser or oil cleanser and then a water based cleanser. This is the best way to truly clean your skin. Your skin will thank you and improve over time.
One of the best things you could do for your mental wellness is shower.
Make sure to check in with yourself every so often, how is your heart? Are you hurt? Angry? Calm? Your body? How are you feeling mentally ?
Wash your hands before any skincare routine.
Always be honest with your therapist, don’t waste your money all time.
Skincare is a journey not a destination.
If you grow to understand yourself better no one sooo ever tell you about you.
Life is full of many lessons, and time is the best teacher. Your skin sheds itself; it may break out sometimes, but I genuinely believe with patience and time, you’ll get to where you need to be.
The brain is the most crucial thing in your body. Take good care of it. It can be frustrating and sometimes traumatising, but whenever you are willing, remember someone is willing to listen. Most would rather listen to your problems than attend your funeral. Take care of your mental health.
