I first began the work to heal from an eating disorder in 2010, and it’s been a passion of mine ever since. But despite all those years of hard-fought experience in the recovery trenches, I am still learning how to turn off the eating disorder voice in my head. It’s difficult not to listen when the eating disorder breaks into my thoughts with its noisy, persuasive diatribes. But at least I am making strides to quiet the volume. I no longer want to live under that influence and control, so here’s how I turn off the eating voice in my head.
