Today is National Reading Day! So we wanted to share some fun facts about our TBR Shelves for 2023!

What book are you most looking forward to reading this year?
Aimee: I am excited to finally read It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover! I read the first one last year and loved it, but Bella’s mum bought me the second book for Christmas and I have to wait for Bella to be back from the US in February before I can receive it!!

Bella: Too many books. Way too many!

MJ: I am hoping to start (and hopefully finish!) the LOTR books this year and I am very excited about it!

What is the largest book on your 2023 TBR?
Aimee: A Little Life by Hanya Yangihara (over 800 pages!)
I have heard that this is an incredible book and multiple people keep recommending it to me; however it is a very heavy book which touches upon many difficult topics… so I may need a nice uplifting book to read alongside of it!

Bella: IT by Stephen King (around 1,100 pages!)
I bought this one last year but did not get around to reading it, so I am hoping to tackle it in the fall of this year!

MJ: Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons is the largest but only bc of actual size in comparison to the novels!

How many books are you hoping to read this year?
Aimee: I have set my Goodreads goal to 30 books again this year as I did not quite reach this goal in 2022! If I can make it to 35 books by the end of the year, I will be really happy!

Bella: I reached my goal of 40 books in 2022, so I have gone a little further this year and set my goal to 70 books! I am hoping to accomplish this by reading a couple of series books!

MJ: I haven’t got a numbered goal. I get really stressed if I don’t meet a goal and then just give up bc my brain be weird that way.
I guess, basically, I just find it really overwhelming when I have a number to aim towards!

What was your favourite book of 2022?
Aimee: Verity by Colleen Hoover! This book blew my mind and I still cannot decide which story I believe…

Bella: A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair was my favourite book of 2022!

MJ: The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida: One boys voice from the silence of autism. I borrowed this book from the Library, it was not what I expected it to be but it was very interesting!

We would love to hear about the books that you are planning to read this year, as well as some of your favourites from 2022! Let us know in the comments below – also, do not forget to follow our Bookstagram account!
